2019 (...) ano muito atípico
VERY UNUSUAL YEAR
Foi um ano muito atípico, com eventos climáticos relevantes e com seca metereológica durante todo o ciclo vegetativo. O abrolhamento foi antecipado pelas temperaturas altas verificadas em Fevereiro e Março. A precipitação no mês de Abril veio minimizar o Inverno extremamente seco e permitiu às videiras normalizarem o seu crescimento vegetativo. No entanto o mês de Maio foi muito quente em contra-ponto com o mês Junho, o 4º mais frio desde 1931. A floração no entanto, ocorreu com tempo favorável e depois do pintor não existiu qualquer onda de calor, o que mitigou a falta de humidade no solo. A vindima começou ainda em Agosto e prolongou-se até Outubro, sem qualquer precipitação. Os vinhos mostraram-se bastante equilibrados, com os brancos muito frescos e álcool médio-baixo. Os tintos com menos cor que 2017 e 2018, mas mais frescos e elegantes. A tendência foi para menor quantidade de antocianas à vindima, mas melhor taninos.
It was a very unusual year, with relevant climatic events and meteorological drought throughout the vegetative cycle. The sprouting was anticipated by the high temperatures in February and March. Abnormal rainfall in April minimized the effects of the extreme dry winter and allowed the vines to normalize their growth. However, the month of May was very hot followed by a very cold month of June, actually the 4th coldest since 1931. Flowering however, occurred in favourable conditions and afterwards there was no heatwaves during the summer, which alleviated the lack of moisture in the soil. The harvest started dry, in late August and continued like that until October. In general wines are quite balanced. The whites are very fresh, with medium-low alcohol, reds have less colour than 2017 and 2018, but are fresher and more elegant, the trend was towards less anthocyanins, but ripen tannins.
